Christmas, my birthday and the sales

Hello. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I did. I received so many lovely things and I just ate all day long. Honestly, I think I weighed about six stones more in the evening than I did in the morning.

So this is my Christmas post. I know I'm a bit late, but stuff's been going on. I went to the boxing day sales on boxing day and it was my birthday yesterday so this post is going to include those too!

Let's start with Christmas and my birthday.
This is just a selection of stuff from Christmas and birthday. I received a lot of clothes and jewellery but also some really pretty little random bits like candles and, of course, enough chocolate to last me until next Christmas. I also got The Neverending Story on DVD because it was my absolute all-time favourite film as a child and although we have it on video, I can't find it anywhere so I was probably overly excited when I opened that one. Ha.

Then on boxing day I went with a couple of friends to the sales. It was manic. Urban Outfitters (our favourite shop) wasn't even open when we got there at about 10 to 10 so we decided just decided to wait the 10 minutes until it opened. We then made our way along past New Look, River Island, H&M, Offive and eventually Topshop, popping in to see the Jenners Christmas tree on the way. After that we went up to George Street to Hollister and Jack Wills, passing Schuh and Miss Selfridge on our way. I never go into either Hollister or J.W, as designer clothes aren't my thing, but my friends wanted to. When we got to Hollister we found it didn't open until 12 and as that was about 45 minutes away and there was an ENORMOUS queue outside, we decided to give that one a miss. We actually had a really successful day overall but as sales go, it was pretty stressful so we stopped for a Starbucks on our way home.
Top: Urban Outfitters - reduced from £25 to £10
Leggings: Urban Outfitters - reduced from £25 to £12
Shoes: New Look - reduced from £24.99 to £12
Necklace: Miss Selfridge - £2.99 (I think?)
Waterproof liquid eyeliner: Superdrug - £1.99 (review to come. Probably.)
Shirt: Christmas present
Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Tights (fleece-lined): Primark
Frilly socks: Topshop
Converse: Amazon
This is what I wore to the sales. I wore my new shirt with my dip-dye shorts and a pair of fleece-lined (yes!) tights.

crotchet blouses, loafer creepers and anklets

blouse: Topshop
jeans: Tesco (I know, I know)
shoes: River Island
anklet: some random market somewhere

On Saturday I went out for one of my best friend's birthdays but it was just a casual thing so I wore a pretty plain outfit. I decided to wear my blouse with the pretty crotchet/mesh detailing on the chest which I always seem to resort to in smart/casual situations. I just love it so much! It maybe wasn't the best choice in terms of warmth, though. It's quite cold here now and although I wore my leather jacket on top I was still pretty cold. The rolled up trousers probably didn't help much either. I'm still quite amazed that they're from Tescos. I have honestly lived in these for the past few weeks. They're really really comfy!

Also, who's buzzing for Christmas? ME! We put up our tree a few days back, I just haven't got round to posting it yet.
I also feel like Christmas is the perfect opportunity to cover your room in fairy lights (and leave them there forever after that because fairy lights are pretty!) so each year my room gains a set of lights and I just never take them down.
Am I the only one that loves them so much?

Follow me on Instagram

This is just a quick one as I have never been so busy as I have been these last few weeks, hence the serious lack of posts.

I just wanted to let you all know that after deleting my old Instagram account because I didn't use it, I have set myself up a new one which I actually intend to use this time. I'm feeling a bit lonely with my 9 followers or however many it is, so it would be much appreciated if you'd like to join me. I'm not going to be one of these people who begs for followers - I'm just letting you know that I'm here and that you're welcome to come and have a look. I promise I'll follow you back too.

Also, since I reached 300 followers recently, and I never acknowledged it, I thought I'd better thank you guys. So thank you! It really does mean a lot.

Bright colours rule all

You know sometimes it's good to wear monochrome? Well that's all fine and good but I find myself doing that too often in winter. I think it's important that you add a bit of colour from time to time. Don't get me wrong, while I'm totally in awe of Tavi and everything she wears, does and stands for, I don't have the guts to dress the way she does.
Maybe these are a little out-there - the one on the left reminds me of like Cruella Deville or something or maybe one of those fluffy rugs you can get in Ikea that go matted after about a day. But the principle of the idea is to make yourself a rainbow every once in a while. Even if it's just a MASSIVE electric blue hat, you definitely need to go for it. Also, I really like the orange leather dress. Meh.
I can't actually tell if this is a fleece or what but I like it. I'd wear it with trousers/leggings/other leg coverers that are not see-through though because it's flipping cold here. I like the stripey pattern with the zig-zags and all the colours but also the oversized-ness of it. It's also kind or Christmassy?
This one's definitely more my style - especially the knitted jumper. There'll always be a special place in my heart for knit-wear. Also, how much brighter can you get than bright red and bright yellow?

So. wear brighter colours. Don't be boring. BRIGHT COLOURS RULE!

Fashion vouchers blogger challenge: christmas party

I received an e-mail recently about another competition are running where you must create an outfit using pieces from a merchant of your choice selected from a list provided on the website. The outfit must be under £100 and you can use any voucher you find on the website to help you. For more information, head on over to

I chose Missguided because I'm loving everything on there at the moment..

Dress - £18.99
Shoes - £24.49
Bracelet - £7.99
necklace - £7.99

I chose quite a simple little velvet dress - red for Christmas too. I actually really fancy one for myself, which is probably part of the reason I chose this one. I really like the naked patches and the way the light shines on it.

With the shoes I went for red again. I was going to choose black but it looked a bit odd. There's a VERY slim chance that I'd be able to walk in them but a girl can dream, as they say.

I'm including the necklace that's in the picture with the dress. I thought it was a really nice length and looked lovely with the dress.

With the bracelet I thought it would go really well with the necklace and also, I just thought it was quite unusual.

Altogether the whole thing only comes to £59.46 - so totally a bargain!

Various things

I've been neglecting my keyboard a bit, I know. But whatever.
Dress: Topshop
Shoes & belt: New Look
On Saturday night I was at a dance...type thing. I wore a black dress because, after all, you can never go wrong with an LBD, can you? I did try to find something a little fancier but it just wasn't happening. I also don't usually wear heels as high as these ones so that was interesting. Particularly walking across a grass lawn. Hm. They're actually a little bit on the big side because I reckon the area from my toe to the ball of my foot must be shorter than average because my foot never properly fits into the curve of the shoe but a size smaller is always too small. I bought a pair of those gel pads that go in the front bit under your toes which helped but my foot ended up getting a bit sweaty (ew) and they were just slipping forwards on the gel bits so I had to take them out.
I don't know about where you are but it's become really cold here recently so I bought myself a new jacket. I had a little hunt around and eventually found one I liked in H&M for £39.99 so I bought it and I love it. It's SO warm. There's a fleece lining and a massive Eskimo hood.
I also bought myself two new pairs of earrings because I'm running pretty low on nice earrings that aren't just studs. I bought one pair from New Look (the gold ones) and one pair from River Island (the silver pair).

What have you been up to?

Today, I'm just going to WRITE

Today I've decided I'm just going to write and have a bit of a cosy catch-up because it's something I rarely do on this blog, but something I should do more often because I love writing. I feel like I've lost my mojo a bit recently, in regards to blog posts and they've become a little few and far between so hopefully this'll help me get back on track.

So first, happy November! I'm really feeling like winter's already here because it's so cold all the time already. I can't believe it's Christmas next month. Anyway, yesterday we had the most beautiful sunset and I stood outside after school and watched it, equipped with my camera, of course. The colours were so pretty - all light pinks and purples and fiery oranges and reds. I just wanted to jump into a Volkswagen camper van, grab all my friends and drive to the beach and be cute and watch the sun go down with them. We could have had a wee fire and brought our ukuleles and sat singing campfire songs and toasting marshmallows. Actually, the picture kind of reminds me of something you'd see Tumblr.

And speaking of Tumblr, I'm really enjoying going on there and just having a root around there at the moment. There's so many really beautiful pictures that I can sometimes get a bit of inspiration for my own blog from. In fact I might just stop here and show you a few of my favourites.
(what was I literally just saying?)

Ok, onwards. I have been introduced to a new band and, seriously, I like, fancy their music. They're called the Lumineers and you should listen to them. The song I've posted below is called 'Ho Hey' and it's pretty much their most well known song so you might have heard it before, but if not, give it a listen. It's so happy and uplifting. Another one by them, which is a bit different but still so absolutely amazing, is called 'Flapper Girl'. Listen to that if you get a chance.

Anyway, I think that is all you're getting for today!

My face/ galaxy nails

Hello. Today I wanted to show you my nails. I tried this whole galaxy thing and it worked out okay actually!
First I painted my nails with a coat of navy nail varnish as the sky. Next, I painted a blob of light green in the middle of each nail and then I cut a small piece off a sponge and dipped it into a pinky/purple colour. I lightly used the sponge to splodge this around the outside of the green and then I used a new sponge to splodge a very thin layer of a darker purple and silver over this. To add the stars I used a pink glitter polish and then a silver glitter polish over the top.

What do you think?

My Scrapbook/ old things

I'm very keen to remember everything that happens in my life, hence this blog. I've always been REALLY bad at keeping a diary because I just can't write when I know it'll only be me that's reading it. I find it so difficult. I do keep a scrap book though, and anything I collect that doesn't go in my scrapbook goes in my 'archive' box. I just thought it would be quite appropriate if I showed it all to you since this blog is basically just one big scrap book!
The first 4 pictures are from my Scrapbook. Basically anything that means something, and some things that don't mean anything, gets stuck in. I've got everything from birthday cards to train tickets to little sketches.

The rest of the pictures are from my 'archive' box. This is a tin with all the overflow from my scrapbook. I love looking thhrough all this stuff because I come across stuff I'd completely forgotten about, like little notes my best friend used to write to me when we were about seven and stories I wrote in primary one. I've put in some scans of some of the things I have in there, like a sheet of limericks, which I have to say, I'm still pretty proud of, and a story called "Hattie on Holiday" (a masterpiece, if you ask me). You can also see there a letter I wrote with my friend to Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter, addressed to 'Dan' from his 'biggest number 1 fans'. As you can see, we asked him if he could get us a part in the movie as we had a sense of humour and were patient so we could wait between scenes. What is also obvious, is that we never got round to sending that letter off, which is probably why I never starred in Harry potter.

In my box I also found a delightful story about a man named Rosh who ran over his daughter in a tractor and killed her, a word bank from a reading book I read in primary school and a zine I made a couple of months ago (you can read about that HERE )

Do you have a scrapbook?
